Candella and Duchess exchange a look, and Candella says, “That’s it. I knew this place was haunted. Our luck has been ill so far, with naught but foul monsters, no treasure, and empty or useless paperwork being all that remains here. I have no stomach to confront angry spirits too. You have your wish, madam, I think it’s time we head home.” She nods to Leng, “You are welcome to come with us too of course, since we brought you here.”
Leng declines, opting to remain with the party.
Candella pulls out a rope and grappling hook, hooks it to the window sill, and asks Leng, “Could you be so kind as to unhook this for us once we reach the ground?” Leng agrees, and much quicker than expected, both Candella and Duchess hop out the window and climb swiftly down the ropes to the ground at the bottom of the cliffs.
Leng unhooks the rope, tosses it down to them, then they bid farewell with a silent wave.
Krislee gets her chance to look through the scrolls, only to find that they are as described by the two thieves: either empty, or just useless palace paperwork.
