As you stand discussing what to do next, you hear a creaking sound of hinges and stone scraping on stone. Just to the north of you, the east wall swings open, and a man steps cautiously into the hallway, hands raised weaponless in a sign of peace. He speaks rapidly, as if concerned you will attack him.
“Hello fellow travelers, I come to you in peace. See - I keep my mace at my belt, and wish to talk, not battle.”
He introduces himself as Ieng Zua, a Cleric. He was hired as a porter and healer for two female adventurers, by the names of Candella and Duchess. They entered the ruins by way of the large portcullis yesterday, and were set upon by a group of goblins in the hallway just north of the third (kitchen) door in the westward-most entry hallway (the same hallway your party entered). They fought bravely, but soon after first engaging, a goblin tackled him, knocking him down and extinquishing the lantern he was holding. In the darkness he found the wall, and must have pulled a hidden lever or stone, because the wall gave way and he tumbled down some stairs, hitting his head and knocking him out.
When he came to, he had no light, but was able to figure out that he was in a secret stairway between the hallways, with secret doors on both ends. The goblin patrols are often enough that he has not chanced to venture out of the stairway to go outside yet. Except for the goblin patrols marching by, he has heard shouts and fighting (undoubtedly some of that was your party!). He does not know what happened to Candella and Duchess, they were nowhere to be found when he awoke. Just now, he heard you speaking calmly in the Common language just outside the lower door, so decided to trust in his god and see if you could help him, or if he can help you.
